Toldot began with a moment none of us are ever ready for.
Three quiet principles.
Everyone has a story worth preserving.
Not just public lives. Not just lives that ended early. Every life — quiet, ordinary, particular — deserves to be told and held onto.
Memories should feel alive, not static.
A photograph holds a face. A book of stories holds a voice, a phrase, a way of seeing the world. We make the second kind.
Technology should help us hold onto what matters.
Not just what is easy to capture. The voice. The stories. The small moments that define a person — those are the ones worth the work.
Everything was moving as normal. Life was full, busy, working.
I was abroad on a work trip when I got the call from my mum. She told me she had been diagnosed with lymphoma. A rare type.
In an instant, everything changed.
The world I was living in came crashing down. There were questions. Timelines. Hope. Fear. All at once.
This was during COVID. She was shielding. Access was limited. Time felt both urgent and uncertain.
The doctors gave her two years.
She fought for six weeks.
There are parts of that time I wish I could go back and change. Moments I wish I had captured differently. Conversations I wish I had held onto more tightly.
The reality is, what I have left is not enough.
Yes, I have photos. And I treasure them.
But the only voicemail I have of her is a simple one. She's promising one of my sons £15 to learn something.
That's it.
A lifetime of wisdom, stories, voice, personality… reduced to a single message.
And in today's world, that shouldn't be the case.
From that moment, a seed was planted.
A simple thought: there has to be a better way to hold onto the people we love.
That idea didn't stay with just one person. Two friends shared the same feeling, the same frustration, and the same vision.
Together, that seed became Toldot.
We live in a time where we document everything. Photos. Videos. Messages.
But somehow, we are still losing what matters most.
The voice.
The stories.
The personality.
The small moments that define a person.
Toldot was created to change that.
To help people capture more than just images. To preserve identity, memory, and legacy in a way that feels real, human, and lasting.
Because one day, those moments won't just be memories. They'll be everything
And most importantly, we believe no one should be left wishing they had just one more moment saved.
OUR MISSION
To help people preserve the stories, voices, and essence of the people they love.
So that when time moves on, what remains still feels close.
